Since forging a partnership in 2023, Aggreko has played a pivotal role in supporting Formula E’s mission to become one of the most sustainable sports on the planet. Through innovative energy solutions and a shared commitment to environmental responsibility, Aggreko has helped power the championship’s vision of cleaner, greener motorsport. The Berlin ePrix is the only race to stay on the calendar since Formula E’s inception, with its home in the 2024/25 season being at Berlin Tempelhof Airport. The track is completely temporary, meaning Formula E comes and builds up the track, starting a few weeks before the racing action unfolds. The track needs to ensure it is suitably powered throughout build stage, racing actions and pack down.

Aggreko delivered a complete temporary technical power installation to ensure seamless operations throughout the event. Generators were deployed to provide full backup to the grid, with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil supplied via the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) panel to maintain sustainability standards. Aggreko helped assist the race teams power the way, charging the 22 driver’s cars plus 10 additional support cars. Dedicated track power supported critical systems including safety signals, timing and scoring equipment, and TV camera feeds. In addition, backup generators were installed for the broadcast compound, safeguarding uninterrupted coverage for global audiences even in the event of a power disruption. There has been a year-on-year reduction in fuel usage, achieved through careful planning of load-on-demand generators and strategic placement of power compounds. For this event, only 2,500 litres of HVO were used in total, with the majority of power supplied from the existing grid via two transformers.

The Berlin ePrix was set to get underway without a hitch. After two fiercely contested and chaotic rounds, Oliver Rowland emerged victorious, securing the World Title in style. The Aggreko team rose to the occasion, battling extreme and rapidly changing weather conditions to managing the logistical demands of a world-class motorsport event, they delivered a race weekend that was as thrilling for fans as it was professionally executed.
