Bringing power to a remote motorsport event
Annually, the Goodwood estate hosts its world-famous Festival of Speed, where petrolheads alike come together to watch some of the best automotives in the business charge up a single car hill, racing against the clock to score the fastest time. The main challenge is to host the large-scale event in its isolation. The sprawling estate is nestled in the West Sussex countryside, with limited power options in the surrounding area.
Each year, the event brings in large crowds, turning the Goodwood Estate into a village of horsepower. A reliable solution that could cope with the remote location was vital to making the weekend go off without a hitch.
Aggreko’s temporary power brings easy solution to create a motorsport village
With the Goodwood Estate hosting the event on a large expanse of fields, Aggreko was all hands-on deck to bring approximately 130 mobile generators to help power the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Over the course of five weeks, the estate was taken from an open area of greenery to a mini town that would host the great motorsport spectacle. Following the event, Aggreko delivered an efficient two-week takedown of all on-site equipment, leaving the estate in its natural pre-event condition to ensure the environment was not affected.
The event was powered purely on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), with no diesel used, in line with our strong sustainability goals. Aggreko prides themselves on making sure we can help all the events we supply to become more sustainable for the future.
Aggreko had a strong team of 20 industry experts, readily armed to get the automotive spectacular prepared, including two brand-new apprentices who gelled to the Aggreko way immediately, creating a successful project for us and for the client.
Large scale event able to unfold in isolated location
Due to Aggreko’s first-class service and reliable temporary power solutions, we are proud to have helped Goodwood with its world-class events for the past eight years. Aggreko’s support has ensured that despite the Estates lack of electric outputs due to its isolated location, Goodwood can still host its famous Festival of Speed for a capacity of 200,000 people.
